This was the first competition I took part in. Along with it, we attended a 4-day shoe course by TAF.TC to learn about the foundation of shoe production. We were called to produce 3 designs: a ballerina flats, a sandal wedges, and a pumps. the general theme given was Summer Fun.

My concept was named Beyond Holes. It portrayed the restrictions present in everyday life, yet fun is where these restrictions are overcome. It is only when you break through these little holes (representing restrictions), that you are able to find true fun in life. Blue was used to highlight the transformation of "everyday blues" to a fun element.

I was lucky enough to be chosen as the top 8 finalist for the competition. All 3 pairs of shoes by the 8 finalists were manufactured and 1 pair of shoes was worn by the model for the final judging. The shoes came out great, with only one disappointment where the key element, which are the holes on the heels, was unable to be executed due to time limitations. However, it was still a good experience!
